FASD & the Justice System

R. v. Bird, 2008 ABQB 327 (Ross J.):

Sentencing of youth as adult for manslaughter, sexual assault and kidnapping – offender with FASD, which had a disinhibiting effect on behavior and makes it difficult to learn new behaviours - easily led and low maturity – reduced moral culpability – FASD makes rehabilitation challenging – 9 years in jail.
